Cody Stone is a Graduate Research Assistant working on his Master’s Degree at the University of Texas. He has an undergraduate civil engineering degree with specialization in transportation from the University of Florida. Cody worked on project 6-0701: Managing the Transportation System, in the summer of 2012. This project involved defining functional classes of roadways in Texas and coming up with revenue stream possibilities to fund the highway network of Texas. He has also done work on optimizing preventive maintenance cycle length. This work utilized risk-based analysis of pavement to find the lowest life cycle cost in performing preventive maintenance. It looks at a pavement’s risk of failure, which would require full rehabilitation. Cody is currently researching the economic impact of transportation infrastructure. He is also working on a way to value road assets in terms of this economic impact.
