The goal of instruction is to introduce laws affecting the handling and cleanup of potentially hazardous pollutants, and to convey the principles governing the transport, fate, and remediation of hazardous pollutants in the environment, including advection, dispersion, sorption, interphase mass transfer, and transformation reactions. Further, to introduce cleanup strategies in the constructs of these governing principles and to determine the physical, chemical, and biological properties that control their application.
